Red Arrows Pre-Wedding Engagement Photos in Swansea Bay

If you're planning your pre-wedding shoot and thinking of something a little different—how about timing it with an air show and nine jets flying overhead at 645mph?

That’s exactly what we did with Evan & Emma for their engagement photos on Swansea Bay during the annual Red Arrows display. And honestly? It was chaos… but in the best way.

Evan is an aerospace engineer (which made this whole setup even more meaningful), and when we realised the timing of the Swansea National Airshow lined up with their session, it felt like fate. So off we went—camera bags packed, suncream on, and hoping we’d find a quiet spot. We headed to the far end of the beach, near the Observatory tower, where it’s a bit less crowded and you still get those stunning open views of the bay.

Now, photographing a couple while trying to anticipate the flight path of nine jets isn't exactly standard shoot conditions. Add to that: blazing sun, sand everywhere, excited kids darting in and out of shot, and everything happening in what felt like double speed. I was snapping away like my life depended on it. But wow—what a backdrop. The Red Arrows put on a stunning show (as always), and Emma & Evan brought all the love, laughter and total trust, even with jets roaring overhead!

They were so chilled and sweet with each other, which made everything feel effortless. Between the dramatic skies, the noise of the show, and the golden sand beneath us, the photos ended up being a unique mix of playful, romantic, and just a little bit epic.

After around 18 minutes of adrenaline-filled flight time (that felt more like 3), we all sat down on the sand, took a deep breath, and just soaked it in. What a way to mark the countdown to their wedding day.

Swansea engagement photography with a twist? Absolutely. Red Arrows, beach walks, and a couple who are completely in love? Yes, please.
