Golden Hour Wedding Photography at Oxwich Bay | Nat & Ben
Yay—the sunshine finally showed up! It’s August bank holiday, we’re at the stunning Oxwich Bay Hotel, and after what felt like two straight months of soggy ceremonies and umbrellas-as-accessories, I very nearly dropped to my knees and thanked Mother Earth for the blue skies.
That moment was... short-lived. Because I remembered I’m British, fair-skinned, and sunshine = squinty eyes, weird shadows, awkward tan lines, and a harsh reminder that Oxwich is the most popular beach in Gower when the sun decides to play nice. It was absolutely packed—full-on sardines-in-swimwear vibes. But hey, after weeks of rain, I’ll take it!
Despite the beach chaos, the day was an absolute gem. Nat & Ben’s wedding started with a beautiful ceremony at St Michael & All Angels Church in Manselton, Swansea. Vicar Andrew led such a personal, heartfelt service—full of warmth, emotion, and the kind of atmosphere you only get when everyone in the room is deeply invested. Ben was in tears (as were a few of us behind the lens) the moment he saw Nat walk in wearing the most incredible mermaid-fit bridal gown. You could just feel how much the moment meant to him.
After the “I do’s,” we made our way down to Oxwich for the reception—and while it was busy, we worked our magic (and found some sneaky quieter spots) to grab a few stunning beach shots during golden hour. This is what sunny weddings are all about. The light was soft, warm, and made everything feel a bit Mediterranean for a moment. If it weren’t for the nearby chips and seagulls, I could’ve been convinced we’d teleported somewhere abroad.
Nat & Ben were a dream to photograph—so natural, so joyful, and totally in love. That little sunset stroll gave them time to breathe, soak in the moment, and get some gorgeous portraits away from the buzz of the party.
Oxwich Bay wedding photography in the sunshine? Yes. Please. And fingers crossed Mother Nature keeps the good vibes going into September...
