Colourful wedding photography at The Mount Without, Bristol.

Wedding couples photo outside the Mount Without wedding venue, taken at blue hour with festoon lightning behind the colourful wedding couple.

Floral dress, samba beats, and a schnauzer in a matching outfit? Safe to say, Alice & Max’s March wedding at The Mount Without was anything but ordinary – and we were absolutely here for every second of photographing it.

Bristol wedding photos with personality.

Alice and Max kicked off their day just around the corner at Hotel du Vin, before walking up Bristol’s iconic Christmas Steps to the venue. Bit of a leg workout before you get married? Bold. But honestly, what a moment – and what a backdrop and all lead by Schnazuer Judy.

The whole day was bursting with colour and personality, just like them. Alice wore a floral dress from Dig for Victory, while their beloved schnauzer Judy trotted down the aisle as ring bearer in a co-ordinating outfit (yes, really – and yes, it was adorable).

Instead of a traditional aisle entrance, the wedding party walked down in pairs, each holding a ribbon between them. Later, those same ribbons were gathered by the celebrant to form the knot that Alice and Max tied during the ceremony. It was a gorgeous way to involve their closest people a little more in the moment — symbolic, inclusive, and so personal.

First Time Shooting at The Mount Without

This was our first time shooting at The Mount Without, and it did not disappoint. Between the stained glass, the high ceilings, and that surreal underground crypt, it felt like a venue with stories to tell. It’s such a unique space – intimate but dramatic, alternative but still romantic. Exactly the kind of place that suits a couple like Alice & Max.

A DIY Dream Wedding (with Bonus Samba)

Alice is actually part of the Bristol Samba band, so of course she hopped up to perform a few songs mid-reception – with Max grabbing a drum and jumping in too! That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the evening: high energy, zero chill, and a dancefloor that didn’t quit.

And honestly? The amount of personal detail they poured into this day was magic. Alice made all the decorations, cakes, makeup, and flowers herself, and even grew succulent favours for guests to take home. There was a lot of love (and talent) on show.
