Styled Shoot hosted by Megan & Claude - Multiple table scapes for wedding cake displays.

This one was a dream. Megan & Claude pulled together the ultimate in creative shoots at the iconic Margam Orangery, featuring twelve styled scapes, loads of talented cake makers, two florists (Wendy at Blodau Blodwen Flowers + Alan of Coxon & Moss) and a whole host of incredible ideas brought to life.

From bold colour palettes and textured fabrics to alternative cake styling and layered tablescapes, this whole shoot was designed to give inspiration you can actually run with. Whether you’re planning a full themed wedding or just want a unique cake setup or tablescape moment, there’s plenty here to pick and choose from.

The styling reflects what we’re seeing more of this year—strong shapes, unapologetic colour, mixed textures (hello velvet, rattan and pearls), plus a shift toward cakes that feel more like art than dessert. Think: painterly florals, sculptural folds, oversized bows, and playful toppers. And the best part? You don’t have to go big on everything—take what you love, and make it yours.

They shared mood boards with all the suppliers a few weeks before, so we came into the day full of vision and ready to create. On the ground, Beth and Danielle from the M&C team worked so hard styling, adjusting and keeping everything running seamlessly. I was shooting alongside the lovely Art In Design, giving us two totally different photography styles for the setups.

Each scape had its own vibe, and the suppliers weren’t afraid to mix it up. There was a huge range of textures, tones and details – plus a few on-the-day switches and improvised setups that ended up becoming highlights. And yes, all the cake makers brought samples, which I regret none of.

Bright Med Scape – sunshine on a table, a pure Mediterranean daydream.
A rectangular cake with wavy icing and bright florals sat amongst lemons, rosemary sprigs, and layered ceramic plates. Purple goblets and a nearby classical statue gave it the full Sicilian fantasy. The sun hit the table at just the right time and for a moment, we were 100% in Italy. It gave “al fresco wedding lunch in Sicily” – obsessed.

Crystal Moment Scape – pure sophistication, elegant soirée energy without trying too hard.
A crisp white piped cake was surrounded by faceted glassware that caught the golden light beautifully. The chandelier in the background, the dramatic glass shadows, and the Orangery windows made this one feel like an elevated wedding toast moment. Thanks to Danielle and her muscles for holding up the chandelier!

Navy Silver Scape – a little bit disco, a little bit sass, and a whole lot of look-at-me main character energy.
This scape said it best: YOU LOOK AWESOME. Giant silver lettering on a navy backdrop, paired with oversized disco balls and a rotating line-up of statement cakes. From sculptural white tiers to soft floral cascades to the hand-painted floral cake, each one looked epic against the bold setup.

Mocha Mousse Scape – total trendsetter energy—rich tones, romantic, and stylish as hell.
One cake featured cascading roses in mocha, blush and cream; the other rocked full mocha fondant with dramatic bow detailing and layered textures. Copper cutlery, soft-toned florals, and earthy styling made this setup feel bang on trend for 2025.

Spring Florals Scape
– a colour palette that sings springtime; pure romantic garden daydream energy.
My personal fave. A tall hand-painted cake covered in delicate wildflowers in lilac, coral, yellow and soft greens. The floristry (from Wendy at Blodau Blodwen Flowers and Alan of Coxon & Moss) curved toward it like it was growing from the table. Dreamy, painterly, and full of spring energy.

Luxe Rattan Scape – earthy, minimal, and super stylish in that cool-understated way.
A soft white floral cake paired with tropical greenery and minimal rattan screens. White chocolate raspberry cakes and a velvet cake fork box gave it a slightly retro, luxe-lounge vibe.

Swanspiration Scape – pure whimsy and charm!
An oversized pink bow on a white cake, topped with the cutest pink swan wearing a party hat. Swan-shaped planters, soft florals, and pale tones made this one feel whimsical and playful. I even tracked down the topper on Etsy and added it to my wish list. No reason. I just need it.

Truly Madly Deeply Scape – drama, depth, and full commitment to the theme.
All red everything. A red velvet armchair, bold red roses, disco balls, and a fully red cake with dramatic icing bows. A “Te Amo” neon sign added even more drama. It felt sultry, luxurious, and like it could’ve been the set of a romantic music video.

Bold Green Scape - so spot-on I half expected a Jane Austen character to walk in and dramatically slice the cake.
Danielle absolutely went to town on the draping here. Rich green fabric, deep tones, and period-style textures made this one feel like something from a castle drawing room. Deeply elegant with a slightly moody edge. That draping, the stately florals (again, Wendy and Alan worked their floral magic), the antique chair—it’s giving “period drama cake reveal” energy.

Green Flora Scape – luxury meets secret garden vibes, in the best way.
A floral urn overflowing with blush and cream tones sat next to a softly draped cake surrounded by pale olive and champagne-coloured fabric. It gave big stately home vibes. Elegant, painterly, and rich in texture.

Funky Floral Felts Scape – pure fun.
Joyful and unexpected! A clean white cake surrounded by oversized felt flowers in yellow, orange and soft blue. Graphic, fun, and full of personality. It felt like a wedding cake wandered into a colourful children’s book and said, “yes, this is my life now.”

Vintage Teal Scape
– Bridgerton-meets-Baroque fantasy scene, a moody masterpiece.
A deep teal cake with vintage piped detailing, set against a matched folding screen and lit by dappled light. The shadow play, the rich colour, and the historical touches made this one feel like a stolen moment from a period film.

Pearl Piano Scape – total elegance, like a romantic sonata in cake form.
This wasn’t planned. If it were a Friends episode, it would be called “The One Not on the List.” I saw the grand piano and had a vision. Beth made it happen. Pale pink draping, a soft pearl-dotted veil, glass candleholders, and a tall textured cake turned this into one of the most cinematic shots of the day.

Bonus Round: Marshmallow Friend
– this little guy is stealing the whole show!
One of the cake makers brought this little guy along for fun, and I’m so glad they did. A marshmallow cake with sparkly feet, a flower hat, and a smiling face. 10/10. No notes. Absolute joy.

Huge thanks to Megan & Claude for organising this absolute creative playground. To all the cake makers, florists (Wendy at Blodau Blodwen Flowers and Alan of Coxon & Moss), and fellow suppliers who brought their ideas and let us get weird with camera angles – you made this shoot what it was.

Can’t wait to do it all again.
