Rockin’ & ah-rolling all the way to their King Arthur wedding day in Swansea, Laura & Grant are the laid back cool people you only see in the films.

More specifically, if their wedding was styled around a film, the obvious choice would be Quadrophenia; minus the chaos, fighting and mass crowds that Covid restricted. However, that did leave the snazzy dressers, retro Vespas and a whole lot of good music taste to go around. Unfortunately Sting couldn’t make it either. But who needs Sting when you’ve got Phil Baglow belting out an array of 90’s indie hits and the very own groom taking up the mic for his rousing rendition of Ocean Color Scene’s ‘The day we caught the train.

The laid back vibes continued on at the King Arthur in Gower, everything was easy breezy. It wasn’t at all surprising that a fair few of the wedding guests were musicians, or may, at least, have had good taste in music! Guests took their seats by looking for their names on mounted records.

As a Swansea wedding venue, the King Arthur really comes alive on a sunny day. The Gower venue’s meadow was glowing in golden light when Laura & Grant skipped through them after their vows. July summer sunshine and smiles complimented a wedding where sticks of rock were laid out on tables and barefoot children danced on the grass. Laura’s tattoo of a Vespa silhouette matched the gorgeous Vespa scooter her and Grant sat astride at the venue, completing the vintage themed wedding.

Weddings are frequently happy affairs, but they can also be underlined by nerves and little tensions. From the off, this wasn’t going to be anything other than a joyful day… The bride had a bouquet bigger than her head, it stood tall and proud and vibrant with burnt sunset orange roses that matched the bride’s glorious hair. On a personal level, as a fellow fringe keeper, this hair brought on some deep rooted hair envy. Not a single strand was to be seen whipping in the wind, what is this magic? Not forgetting the groom’s hair also, Grant’s mop-top was a far cry from his baldy namesake’s back in Albert Square!

Because of the dreaded C-word, no dancing was allowed beyond a first dance with seated guests, but it didn’t dent the merriment. The family of four came together with a few twirls of the dance floor and finishing off a perfect day cutting the cake as the sun set.
