When Mel & Liam planned their wedding photography at Craig y Nos Castle, they knew they wanted something different—something with a spooky, cinematic twist. Nestled in the Brecon Beacons, this historic venue is famous not just for its stunning scenery but also for its ghostly past.
Of course, we were all in! The couple couldn’t wait to explore the hidden, off-limits areas of the castle—spaces usually reserved for haunted ghost tours. And let’s just say, the eerie backdrop made for some incredibly dramatic wedding photos.

The excitement built as we set up for some unique shots in the abandoned areas of the castle. Imagine a dark, shadowy corridor, with just a single beam of light illuminating the newlyweds. The atmosphere? Pure gothic romance.
With Mel originally from the U.S., many of her family members traveled internationally to witness this destination wedding in Wales. Their peacock-themed color scheme perfectly complemented Mel’s boho bouquet of bunny tails, pampas grasses, and peacock feathers—a stunning contrast against the castle’s historic stone walls.
Craig Y Nos Castle – A venue with a ghostly past.
Did you know Craig y Nos Castle was once owned by opera star Adelina Patti? She even built a theatre inside the castle to perform for guests. But it’s not just the music that lingers—some say the spirits of its TB hospital days still roam the halls.
That mix of history, mystery, and romance made for the perfect wedding photography setting. We got creative with the castle’s darker corners, using the dusty, cobwebbed rooms to add a touch of haunted elegance to Mel & Liam’s wedding photos.
