Wedding photography in Margam as the Newlyweds leave Margam Abbey heading for Ogmore by Sea.
Ogmore By Sea is a hidden gem I happened upon whilst some of my random adventure drives between Bridgend and Cardiff in the coastal areas. It’s something I do when I have a wedding in a new area or when I need some creative juice refreshing! In Ogmore and nearby, I found a Castle, stepping stones of a river, the biggest sand dune in Wales, a beautiful nature reserve and a gap in the river where you can walk in to dip your feet in. So, I now have enough of these little spots burrowed away in my mind for at least a dozen weddings in the area!
Kayley & Nathan had their wedding ceremony at the jaw dropping 12th century, Grade 1 listed Margam Chapel. They kept to a small wedding party with Nathan’s sister as best woman, their own daughter Rose, the only bridesmaid. It was a small wedding which was perfect for the reception venue at The Cobbles Kitchen barn in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan. The weather was perfect for guests to disperse into all the hidden corners of the little rooms off the beautiful, stone courtyard decorated with festoon lighting and bunting.
We stopped off at Castle of Wales in Ogmore, for their wedding photographs to be taken. We didn’t however plan on half the population of Bridgend sunbathing in the area! Thankfully, the newlyweds were welcomed with cheers and even offered a towel for the bride’s feet when they crossed the ancient stepping stones across the Ewenny river. Funnily, I was the one that ended up needing the towel. My wellington boots proved too short for the river and flooded over the tops! It was all worth it for the unique perspective from the water.
After a grazing table buffet too beautiful to eat, a PA system was set up outside for some casual speeches outside in the courtyard as the sunset over Cobbles Kitchen. There’s something about being outside in the sunshine that just creates a natural vibe to photograph. The Los Devitos wedding band carried on the flow of the evening with the couples first dance, playing from their high-rise set up looking over the guests.
