Colourful wedding photography in Canterbury
Colour colour, everywhere! Vibrant wedding celebration in Canterbury, an wedding photographer’s dream.
Jo and Emily’s garden wedding was an explosion of colour and joy, everything these two brides and their cockapoo Cedric had dreamt of! From the moment guests arrived, colour greeted them, starting with a whimsical welcome board, ribbons in all colours hanging from chandeliers, posts, tambourines, and an outrageous amount of Flutter Darlings confetti, ready for throwing. The inclusive atmosphere was alive with hues and joy.
Two brides have all the fun in their wedding photographs!
Set in the picturesque village of Barham, Emily’s childhood home in Canterbury transformed into a wedding venue for the weekend.
With their very own family vineyard as the backdrop to their ceremony, the wedding unfolded in their garden under a homemade tipi.
As the brides prepared just moments apart, the serene atmosphere buzzed with friends and family helping to get everything ready.
Emily & Jo opted for a first look before walking down the aisle together holding hands. With Jo waiting by the Shepherds hut, separated only by a gate; Emily approached, first touching Jo’s hand and then with a countdown from three, they took stepped out to see each other for the first time. Both shedding a few happy tears before being joined by Cedric for cuddles.
The outdoor ceremony under the tipi adorned with ribbons and a sparkling disco ball, created a magical spot for the couple to exchange their personally written vows. A handfasting ceremony led by celebrant Jill saw the two brides tying the knot with colourful ropes and an exchange of rings.
Followed by celebratory drinks sourced from the vineyard itself, complete with custom labels for the day. The couples’ spontaneous celebration involved popping champagne and showering each other with bubbly—a photo opportunity that left their adorably confused cockapoo looking on!
Their grand entrance to their wedding reception was nothing short of spectacular, showered in a confetti cascade that set the tone for a high energy afternoon.
The reception in the triple top tipi was filled with alternating speeches and food courses, during which audience participation was highly encouraged—shaking maracas, tambourines, and even a personalised rendition of an Elton John hit had the crowd singing along.
The party truly kicked off when the ceremony violinist transformed into a jazz sensation, swapping her day outfit for a sparkling jumpsuit. With the addition of an electric violin, a bongo player, and a DJ joining the fun, the dance floor truly came alive, ensuring that this wedding ended the colourful celebration it started.
